Day One - June 10

The first day of our big adventure to see some of this amazing country. We left Toowoomba at 5.05am on Saturday. It was 12 degrees, and the boys snuggled under blankets in the back in their pajamas. We did have to throw on a load of washing before we left, that our wonderful house-sitters dried for us, while we made our getaway.

All the driving went to plan, and we made good time. We stopped for fuel and to get dressed at Goondiwindi. At Moree, we did some learning connections, and raced each other across the grass at the rest area, before climbing back into the car for a few more hours. We had a play at a playground in Walgett, before driving into Bourke to set up camp.

In Bourke, we stayed at Mitchell Caravan Park.  http://www.mitchellcaravanpark.com.au/
Dan and Steph run a great little caravan park, with a community event at the camp kitchen each night. Saturday was a camp oven cook up and sing a long. Nearly everybody gathered to enjoy the fire and listen to the music, until it began to rain around 7 o'clock. We all headed to bed after that. We have brought lots of books, and have all curled up to read for a little bit before turning out the lights.
