Day Ten - June 19

There are so many prickles at this campground!

We drove to Watarrka National Park today, which is where Kings Canyon is. The rim walk was partially closed for repairs, so we did the south wall and the garden of Eden walk. It was about 5.5km. The canyon was spectacular. We took turns lying on our tummies to pear over the edge. It was a very long way down. The garden of Eden was a beautiful green shady space with quite a large pool of water.

Zane is pointing at a bird.
Can you spot it?

Levi is still a bit under the weather, so we had to lug him up and down again. Because of that, we didn't do the other walk through the gorge, but instead headed back to camp.

Unimpressed he was put down.

We went to the pub for lunch where we paid a stupid amount of money for a couple of pizzas and milkshakes. It was delicious though. Saw the price of fuel at the servo was $2.02/litre and were glad we won't need to fill up until we get to Alice Springs.

This afternoon was our most relaxing day so far. The boys played with a collection of other children and Tim and I got to sit and read a book for a while. We met a few other groups travelling similar paths to us. One group are doing it on their motorcycles. They take a trip together every two years, and have ridden across the Simpson Desert, and most of the Western half of Australia. Drool. One day.

We are all sorted to leave first thing tomorrow to head to Alice Springs.
